CONTRIBUTOR: Emma Castle & Nadine Kliskey

Who is Nadine? And how did she get involved in the tourism and hospitality industry? Read on for a short synopsis on the person who keeps The B Hive organised.

What do you do at the B Hive?

As EA and Office Manager, I do anything from scheduling meetings, flights and speaking engagements, to managing our accounts in Xero and learning a new CRM system.

How did you find the B Hive?

I’ve been an Executive Assistant for over 10 years. I was Tammy’s EA at Carnival Australia. I love her style, her way of working and the laughs we have. I was delighted when she asked me to work at The B Hive with her again.

What’s your favourite thing about your work?

The flexibility. I’m so very lucky to be able to work my hours around my home life.

What else do you have going on outside of work?

My family takes up the rest of the hours in the day. I have a partner, a daughter who is nearly four and a son who is 14 months. I like the beach, walking, Zumba and a good girly pampering (when the hours permit!).

Where did you grow up?

St Ives, Cornwall, a beautiful beachside town in the UK. I left there 15 years ago to travel and, little did I know then, live in Australia.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A police officer.

What was your first job?

I worked in an ice cream shop when I was 14. A typical first job in a seasonal tourist town like St Ives.

How did you become interested in business/tourism? What attracted you to this kind of work?

I worked at Carnival Australia. It was my first job in tourism and I loved it! The annual staff discount cruises were definitely a bonus.

If money were no object and you could have a year’s sabbatical, what would you do?

I would travel all over the world! I love the idea of an around the world cruise. All the destinations come to you, you don’t have to unpack/repack and you can put your feet up and relax whilst waiting for the next port of call.

Where are your favourite travel destinations and why?

So many wonderful memories. There is nothing like the energy of New York. The South Island of New Zealand is simply stunning. Driving up to Turtle Bay resort on Oahu, Hawaii, in an open top Mustang. A health retreat on Koh Samui, Thailand. But you can’t beat Trial Bay, Honeymoon Bay and Fraser Island, to name a few, for some beautiful camping spots, right here in Australia.

What is the one thing you wish all your clients did?

Had an EA to help to arrange meetings and follow ups.
